Déjà vu

I would say most people have experienced some kind of déjà vu experience. This is where you do something for the first time but for some eerie reason it feels like you have done this before. Well I was doin my devotions the other day and read out of Luke 2. I was reading about where Joseph, Mary and Jesus went to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. When they were leaving it says that, ” Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem” but he problem is that his parents didnt realize he was gone until later on. Joseph and Mary finally realize it and go back to Jerusalem. They find him three days later sitting in the Temple both asking and answering questions. When they find him they are amazed. Mary asks him why he has made them worry like this. And Jesus responds by saying, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be about my Father’s business.”

I love what Robert Morgan wrote about this:

“Twenty-one years later, it was déjà vu all over again:

  • Same city – Jerusalem
  • Same time – Passover
  • Same Anguish – Jesus is gone!
  • Same duration – Three days
  • Same reaction at His appearance – Astonishment
  • Same rational – He was about His Father’s business

There was nothing accidental about His twelve-year-old adventure. It was a prophetic preview, and we are still astonished at His understanding and answers.”
